I am writing this report about poverty in Brazil. The poverty in Brazil is clearly from the large numbers of people living in slums. The biggest challenge for the Brazilian government is the lack of education, good health care and the availability of water. Thousands of children live on the streets abandoned by their parents who are not able to afford to raise them.
150,000 children under the age of 5 die every year because of hunger. Almost half of all Brazilian children live in poverty. There is a huge gap between the rich and the poor in Brazil. Children from poor families start working from the age of 10 to help their parents. Only in 10 children below the age of eighteen cannot read or write. Frightening but true!
